The small local libraries welcome both visitors and community members with open arms and books. Visit one to learn more about local history, relax and take a break, or get ideas on what to see and do while touring the Byway for a day or an extended stay. They are also a great place to use Wi-Fi if you need it!
The Dorcas Library sits on oceanfront property along a small cove in Prospect Harbor, at the end of the Byway. Relax and read a book indoors or outside with an ocean view. Right across the street is a small park to have your lunch and let the kids run around.
Winter Harbor’s public library is housed in an historic stone covered chapel in the middle of the village. It is one of the most unique pieces of architecture in this section of the Maine coast.
This small library is located in the Town of Sullivan’s community center, just east of the Hancock-Sullivan Bridge on Route 1, near the start of the Scenic Byway.
